So today I went with my friend to help him pick up a new tank for his room. A good deed never go unrewarded! :D In the tank was a cichlid that the past owner didn't want, and my friend also didn't want since he only want his betta to live alone in the new 20 gallon tank he just bought (lol). Anyway this cichlid was apparently quite a troublemaker, since he killed all 5 of his tankmates, whom were also cichlids, along with his mate. That won't happen in my tank since my fishes can hold their own, but the problem is that i don't know what kind of fish is this guy. I'm also assuming he's a guy, since that's that most of us assume when we don't know the sex of the fish  Please help me out! Here are some pictures!

Thanks for the fast response Water! Do you need a clearer picture to sex it, or is it just hard for this type?

Red Jewel. Very beautiful if taken care of.

Yeah that's what I keep seeing in articles about them, so I'm happy! One thing that bugs me is that I have a thing about having more than 1 fish of the same kind. I read that Red Jewels gets pretty aggressive towards other fishes when they're in mating mode. I was wondering if anyone have experience in breeding them and would like to share the knowledge :grinno:

Jewel. Hope you didn't pay too much for it. Pretty much impossible to sex those jewels.

I got it for free since my friend bought a tank and he didn't want this fish whom was living in it. :)

Indeed. He's having a fight with my Firemouths pair though, since i notice his tail fin have been nipped a bit.

Can't beat free!
Well actually u can. If the guy doesn't wnt it and wants to get rid of it so bad cause it killed most of his tank mates and he is getting desperate, he could've paid the guy to take the fish of his hands, i think this just beat free. :grinno:
