Well actually u can. If the guy doesn't wnt it and wants to get rid of it so bad cause it killed most of his tank mates and he is getting desperate, he could've paid the gar man to take the fish of his hands, i think this just beat free.

If you have just one...the aggression isn't much different than most african cichlids (personality can vary with each fish). But if you end up with breeding pair, good luck. I just got rid of my breeding pair as they just kept producing one batch of fry right after another. Made for free feeders but just got tired of them taking up a tank of their own. They killed everything else in the tank including larger fish and the other jewels. The firemouths you have should be fine as they can be pretty fiesty themselves. It is hard to tell whether male or female....some say it is the body shape, some say it is the head shape. The one way to know for sure is when you have a breeding pair, the male will be blood red. My female only turned red around the gills. Good luck to you.
Thanks guys. At this point both the Firemouths are bigger than him, so I don't have to worry about them fighting, since the Firemouths are actually docile themselves. It just looks so lonely, swimming around on its own
