Help me make a decision on a canister filter please?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For a 20 gallon long. This tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNBgov0YBaA

It's between the following:

  • Eheim 2215 Filter Classic Plus
  • Fluval 205
  • Marineland C-220
Which way should I go?

Thanks in advance, i really do appreciate any input.

Those are all decent filters....I would go with the least priced one....

I used the fluval on a 20 planted 20 tall and can't complain. Even though the fluval has done exactly what I wanted I think I'd use the eheim if I were to set-up the tank again. I would do this because the classics have the best reputation of any canister ever made and they're cheap, so I wouldn't mind testing them myself and seeing what all the hype is about. Marineland makes good products but are definitely not in the same league as fluval or eheim.

ive run my fluval 304 on my 20 gallon with smaller community fish just fine. if you find its too much currant, it can always be slowed down some with the aquastop valve or tray full of filterfloss. polishes the water nicely, and slows the flow down alot even when its clean floss. diry it all but stops flowing.

I got a fluval 405 on my 55 an at full flow it blows my sand around theres a lever that u can turn it down as much as u want works nice.

I have:
1) Eheim 2076 Pro III
2) Fluval 404
3) Rena XP3
4) Magnum 350

I like the Eheim Pro III the best out of all of these filters. The Rena XP3 is a close second. But all are capable and do what they are supposed to quite well. The Eheim Pro III has a variable flow restrictor lever that you can use to reduce the flow if it is too much. I don't remember which of the others might have this feature.
