good buy =] you will one day want to upgrade to an xp2 i bet =p lovely filters I have all the xp series however hate the xp4
Help me make a decision on a canister filter please?

I guess I'm not exactly sure what I should be expecting out of a canister, because I have an xp3 and xp4 and they both work great I think. I'm currently hunting down an O ring for my xp4, but I know sometimes stuff just happens that doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of the product. Just remember with anything maintenance, repairs, and failure are always possible no matter what Eheim owners will have you believe. Actually I have an Eheim that works pretty good, so I'm happy with it as well. I'm sure you'll be happy with the xp though.
I like the Rena XP series as well. Though I am curious as to why you hate the XP4? I actually prefer it to my FX5 on my 125. It might not have the same flow (hence why I have both on the tank) but I find that it seems to filter a bit better, does not bubble when it starts to need cleaned, is easier to clean, and has as many options as the FX5 for media.... Both are going on 2 years now without issue..
