Help Me! My flowerhorn’s not eating!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmmm I rather not as the tank’s a little small for him and flowerhorns are known to injure easily when scared. He would dart around the tank whenever I approach. With driftwood/ plants he’ll surely injure himself. Thanks for the advice though ! :)
He's a lot less likely to dart around the tank if he feels secure. Imo hiding places are almost as important as water to cichlids.

Thanks for the advice. However i think I'll stick with a bare tank... It's just a quarentine setup after all

suit yourself, but I agree that the bare tank can definitely cause more stress, stop the fish from feeling comfortable. You'd be surprised the difference décor can make. And no way the fish could hurt itself on some silk plants. But, best of luck to you.

Reason the fish is darting around and smashing into the tank...because of no place to retreat to.. Go get a chunk of pvc for the poor guy/gal to retreat to.

I guess you have already been told this a time or 2 after reading through the rest of the thread.. Why ask how to improve an issue your having on a forum if you dont take the advice given? Seems like a funny thing to do. Good luck to you and your led glass cube with a darty stressed out flowerhorn :)

Hi in case you weren't reading the replies correctly, I've followed every single advice except for the "decorations/hiding places" one and for good reason knowing that the setup is too small to accommodate the flowerhorn to begin with (being a temp setup).
Thanks for the accurate statement about my acrylic and non stressed out flowerhorn ! ;)

I've had it in that setup for over 2 months now and it seems to dart less often with no stress bars present on its body anymore. Thanks for the advice though! Will definitely look into it once I transfer him to a bigger tank in the coming months.
