Help me out with my new 4x2x2 tank

So I just wash the sand clean and add it into the tank ? Will it harm the fish ?

No it wont harm the fish, but take your time rinsing it, when you think youre done rinsing it keep rinsing! Once the water comes out clear you can put it in the tank. Make sure your filters are off when you add it, and allow it to settle for 30-45 minutes before turning the filters back on.

Do NOT get a real fine sand. It ruins all of your equipment fast. Pool filter sand, or black diamond sand are the most economical.

Try brownish-grayish gravel with tall plants for the gar, rocks and driftwood for anything else
