I used a 'BioForce 2000' for about 7 years, sometimes on a 300 gal stock tank and sometimes on a 125 gal 'display' aquarium. It worked marvelous for me...
The BioForce 2000 has approx 5 gal media volume (almost double the FX5) and can be powered by up to a 1800 gph pump (almost double the FX5). When used on the 125 Gal the 'canister' fit beneath the stand and all that went into the tank were two vinyl hoses (just like every other canister).
For anyone considering an FX5, I suggest first considering a BioForce 2000 or similar pressurized pond filter. It takes a bit of personal creativity to put together the intake and return to best suit your situation and cleaning the pond filter indoors is a bit more involved than most aquarium conisters... but you do get double the volume with double the flow rate for approx the same price......
Im going to look into that. I would actually prefer that over an Fx5. I had this big pond canister powered by a mag 18 and a few smaller ones. Not sure of the brand, I think one was a Laguna, but im going to check out the Bioforce. Thanks.
