Help me out with this please..flowerhorn face turned black.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definitely a weird one here. Never seen a FH's colors split down the middle so perfectly like that. Lol who knows maybe when ya left the house one day he called up his plastic surgeon to get a touch up.

But yeah I'd say he's probably got the fader gene and is just starting the process. I found out that it generally takes anywhere from 1 week to over 3 months for "most" fader's to really change color, once they start.

Nope. He's exactly the same as you see in the pics posted before. the blackness on the face has neither increased nor decresed.

This is so weird, it almost feels unreal and photoshopped (I know it isn't).

I believe it might be nerve damage. I have seen fish that turned black from middle of body to the end.

Wouldn't he behave differently if nerve dam and age is what happened to him?Saw a video of a midas which tried to jump out but hit the lid and got brain damage ,fish was swimming in funny ways and couldn't turn upright. It does look pretty weird never seen a fader like that.

A not so good update. He was lethargic from last 3 days. And he started swimming in circles. His stomach seems flat from two sides. What is it? Is it whirling disease or is it swim bladder issue? He was twitching and twirling and banging the stones in the tank. So I've got him in a small 10 gallon tank and have added Epsom salt. What else is to be done? Thanks.
