Ok I’m going to need a LOT of help with this on. I am going to need to get a RODI water unit. All I know about rodi water units is that RO takes out all the impurity’s and DI stands for lowers PH in its simplest terms.

First let me tell yall why I need the rodi water unit. First I have a planted tank that isn’t doing well since my water comes out the tap at approx. 7.8-8.0. The second reason is my water is very hard, and TDS (total dissolved solids) is very hi form the tap the TDS is approx. 320ppm (I have a well and live in bourbon country). The third reason is I would like to get discus at some time in the near future and I know that the TDS can be high for them. I would also like to breed them at some point in time (when I get them).

The setup I am going for is: I would like to screw the rodi unit into the sink and have the rodi unit on the counter have the waist water go down the drain and have the good water go into a separate container that can be wheeled to the desired destination.
I would like to get the unit from Bulkreefsupply.com. They have a build your own rodi water unit that has great reviews (52 reviews all being 5 stars). Here is a link the website where you can build your own RODI water unit, if you can’t build it from the link they are currently out of stock and it will be up once they have all there product (or at least what the guy on the phone told me) http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/produ...d-ro-di-systems/build-your-own-ro-system.html .

So please tell me what filters to get for each stage at the end are the cost also remember I don't have chlorine in my water. I would like to make it cheap but with that being said I also only want to buy once then up grade later where it costs more in the long run. The 2 tanks are a 125 planted and a 90 to be discus. I think I would like to get the 150 GPD just to cut down on waist and I would rather have more than enough water than to little, the other things I would like to get unless told other wise are flush kit (saves DI part).

sorry forgot to mention after we get a big rain (for because haven't seen any rain for months) the water is a little murky but it clears up in a day or two.

just about all ro/di units work the same i got mine off ebay (yoused to run 3 reef tanks) and the ro unit would do 150g a day after 2 years of yous the tds was comeing out at 12 from 168. only cost me 100$ so i say your best bet is find one on ebay you can get a 6-7stage ro unit for cheep. lol it is funny because the di media is more expensive when you have to change it then the ro/di unit with everything. best of luck to ya

We'll just hush about where you've decided to buy from, and help you anyway!

Within the options you mentioned above, I'd go with:
5 mic sed
1 mic sed
5 mic carbon blk
75 gpd membrane
color change DI resin
auto shut off valve
float valve
pressure gauge (oil)
angle stop adapter or faucet kit
as much tubing as you'll need
three ball valves

im sorry if i afended you but i have dealt with tones of these systems and thay as i stated are all alike one membrane 2 di canisters and 3+ filters. the biggest diff in them is price and only someone that has been misinformed on them would go out and spend more the 200 on one. im sorry if you had a problem with my answer but it was not intended for you it was for the op. therefore do not tell someone that is trying to help others to hush keep it to your self

ok after reading what yall said and talked to a person at a LFS (used to install them for commercially) this is what I have come up with.

Please remember I have hard water, the ro is for planted tank and a to be discus tank.

1. I am going with Bulk Reef Supply the name makes me feel better, and great reviews.

2. The unit

stage 1 5 micron
stage 2 1 micron
stage 3 5 micron carbon block
stage 4 150 GPD (2-75GPD cut water waist in half)
stage 5 none

extras
dual TDS
auto shut off
pressure gauge (oil or water you decide)
flush kit
Float Valve
Ball Valve

what else should I get or not get.
