If you did that above african theme you could choose some of the smaller bichirs like Senegal, Delhezi, Polli, Mokelembembe. I don't think the rope fish would necessarily outgrow the tank, since they are flexible, but they do like cover so if you want to do more of a bare scape you might skip them. I love my group of three - they eat out of my fingers. (They need a very secure lid with zero gaps though.)
