help me plan a 55 gallon african tank

I still have most of my callochromis in a 55 and breed them in it before.

Mine are rather aggressive. Especially the dom males with eachother. I switched tanks and as soon after that the bigger one killed the other.

If i were you i would get sand for the substrate, it is easier to clean and it makes your aquarium look more natural.

I say Tanganyikan cichlids. Whatevery you like best, I would go for compressiceps.

I'd go with a Tanganyika with Callochromis, Enantiopus, or Xenotilapia species for sand... Cyprichromis Leptosoma "Utinta" for the open water... and Eretmodus for the Rocks... I used to like Shell dwellers before I got my cyprichromis... since I got them... My brevis never uses the shells... he is always at the top of the tank swimming with the Cyprichromis
