I wouldn't do the pickerel, they are just to stinky and slimy. There's no way to skim it and it would cover the surface area of your filter media creating a pretty nasty film and rendering your filter media useless.

?

You may have had a sick pickerel. My pickerel do not produce any more slime than other fish, and certainly don't clog up filters or scum up the water.

If your fish is secreting slime out into the tank, you have some health issue, or water quality issues.

I do like the look of the yellow perch in an aquarium. I would add white perch if you can find them. Rock bass/crappie would also be fine.

I have all those living in a resivoir just a 1 minute walk from my house.

Cool, thanks everyone I will see what turns up during my next fishing trip, or what comes available from different vendors as well. I'm pretty open to the bullheads, just nervous my smaller sunfish might end up being food for them, but if I get hold of yellow perch or black crappie I will hold on to them for sure, white perch are very easy to get around here.

Just wanted to update everyone, I have a yellow bullhead coming in later this week to grow out a little, I also didn't get the pickerel so what does that open up? I know an earlier poster mentioned the pickerel was keeping out the Lmb or smb, could I really even keep a Lmb in a 210? The bass in my area get HUGE! Just seems that a full grown Louisiana Lmb wouldn't be able to move much in a 210.

I'm still interested in finding some yellow perch and black crappie, but they weren't biting on my last fishing trip so we'll see.

Also will a pair of fx5's be enough filtration?

your grass pickerel will probably not last long term. Ive never had any luck keeping them with any sun fish. there just not that aggressive to combat the pecking there going to encounter.

yeah, I didn't get it on this order and have lately been considering not getting it at all, just because how much it limits my stock

So now stock is looking like it is:
1) Florida gar
1)warmouth
1) red spot sunfish ( one died )
1) yellow bullhead

What else can anyone recommend? Also my question on the filtration?

Like I stated before I would really like some yellow perch and black crappie, how many of those could I put in? I may get a couple more sunfish to add some more color to the aquarium, but I'm thinking the perch and crappie are what I am really after.

I keep 2 grass pickerel with 2 longear sunfish,a rock bass 2 crappie, and 2 carp. And they just spawned a week and a half ago. They have also been kept with lmb, smb and green sunfish without problems at all. All the other fish never seemed to bother them.
