Help Me Please?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you changed the food your using? theoretically lowering the fish population and increasing WC's should make your water clearer. Some foods will cloudy up water something fierce. Anyother changes to the tank? big or small ones? change in media ect?

I'd just add an extra filter, btw, the leleupi look fantastic

Okay ~ I think I will! What a great idea. Thanks re the Leleupi. I had four, but they are jumpers and I have no clue when or how. Perhaps during a water change or out the back.

I cried.

That was a while ago, and I still have two!

You would think huh? So annoying. No other changes, except reducing the population. I did change the media in the AC's to see if THAT was the problem ~ I added carbon, which I don't necessarily believe in as with Discus you should not use ~

But that did nothing at all. Help or hinder.

I even added NEW sponges. They get just.as.dirty.

I was thinking perhaps the AC's are old? But they filter fast and I really don't think that they are NOT working up to par....

I am at a loss ~

How much water do you change? Do you vac the substrate?

I typically change about half.

I wonder.....

I don't vac the substrate. It is sand....do you suppose after all this time....?

Have you checked you water perameters? if you ripped it all apart.. Your likely talking a beneficial bacteria cycle. and vaccing your sand should help, it's a fine talent to master ;) My bets on by replaceing the sponges ect your tanks going threw a bacterial bloom. Upgradeing filters never hurts, but tbh it's liekly not needed. So the weekly WC's are keeping you from building up an abundance of toxins, which is good.. but also slowing the cycle process. I'de confirm w/ a water test. BUt thats where money would be if I was a betting woman.

i did not really rip it apart ~ I just added new sponges often and some carbon and slowly and only in one filter.

It did not help the problem at all nor did it make it worse.

I will do a water test ~

So if it is a bacterial bloom, what should I do?

That still does not explain all the dirty water in my filters. Seriously. it looks like poop water:( I can clean them separately on dif days, and it all comes back.

Thank You for your help ~

I will be back:)
