When you say grass do you mean plants that look like grass or plants that will cover the substract and stay short?

Substract recommendation would be Caribsea Eco-Complete for planted tanks. It is black and in a new tank you don't have to rince it, just throw it in and add water. Within 1/2 hour the water is clear, great stuff.
