Help me sex my jack Dempsey

My vote is male. I am pretty much just basing that on the pointed fins. Color and shape of fish would point to female. How big is that tank? Gender identity seems to be the least of its problems.... Is that a pacu?

I'm sorry I've just heard so many Pacu horror stories was worried your JD was about to get ground up. JD's are kinda hard to sex. The females tend to have a thicker concentration of blue sparkles on their face under their eyes like a blue beard and more rounded fins. Males tend to have sparkles more evenly through out and pointed fins. Also body shapes are boxier for males- usually. These traits can be found on both sexes. As it matures it "should" start looking more like a Jack or a Jackie. Might not though.
 
IMO I don't really like pacus they time I kept him eat was a big bully with big teeth it uses to chase the oscar ear killed my channel catfish ppl say there veggie piranhas but to me there just the same and a lot bigger
 
looks like a male to me. that another JD at bottom right of pic? or a convict?
 
I agree. females bodies pretty drab, but they get the nice gill or bearding colors going. way to much body plating for a female.
