I've got two texas cichlids the male is 6inch or so, and the female is 3inch. They were in a 6 foot but their tankmates started picking on them so i caught them out and put them into a 4 foot. Then i noticed that their vents were out. They changed colour and started tail slapping and started defending a large pot tube. They have stopping doing that now but what can i do to try and get them to spawn again. Thanks for any advice.

Some SA and CA breeders use a system of water changes to simulate natural breeding seasons..

Kinda like 20 % today 10 % tomorrow 30% the day after.. never used it myself but have read of success stories for those that have cichlids that are not so ready to breed... Mayb do a search of that nature and you might find some more info...

I believe I read the same stuff in an old outdated SA and CA book :)

What are you feeding ? And how often Try some Mysis ..

Also over fed cichlids can cease to feel the need to spawn as well.. Just some thoughts :)
