help me stock my 55 gallon. suggestions please

Many mala CA's will breed with your Con. I would try to get all female if possible.

Female Sal would be good but not sure about plants. They also are very territorial and hide alot except when feeding.

Female Nicaraguense are awesome and max at 5". Hard to sex until 3" or so.

Female Sajica, Cutteri, Honduran Red Point, Marble Con, etc.

Female Firemouth but hard to sex at young age.

These are all colorful and should work well.

To answer your question about the male sajica breeding with the female con, yes, they will most likely attempt to breed. I really like sajica though, and think that would be a good choice. Salvini is another idea I like.

They look pretty cool and I know a farm here in florida that sells many varieties.

Which farm are you talking about? Is it the one in St. Augustine?? I've been thinking about getting some smaller sunfish lately...

Yeah Sachs Systems in St. Augustine, they have plenty of native fish including different sunfish and darters.

My Salvini are always out in the open, all of them. But they are indeed territorial... my dominant male took a chunk out of a severum a lot bigger than him lol
