Well at this point I am willing to take any and all suggestions for my 3 foot, 38 gallon tank.

Here is the dealio: Sand or gravel, stacked rocks and caves. Hard water and High PH.

Currently considering:
Cryptoheros "Cutteri"
Demasoni
Dwarf Jewel Cichlids (Red ones?)
Shellies?!

Feel free to give me your advice on these fish, or suggest new fish.
(I already have convicts, Hondurans, Firemouths)

If I can get someone to convince me to switch to shellies I have a nice 20 long I can setup for that and go planted on the 38 with Apistos.

ADVICE ADVICE ADVICE! I'm trying to broaden my spectrum here so jump in please!

Jewels don't play well with others, cutteri needs a larger tank. I would go with all shellies, get a nice little colony of them going...

Is that a waste of tank space though? dont they stay on the bottom? OR could I add a few 'accent' fish to keep it interesting, if so what?

AWESOME thanks!

Still taking other suggestions.

Any insights on Demasoni? Really interesting and love the high aggression levels, but dont want to over crowd if the tank size is unsuitable.

Yeah I knew that I was going to need to keep 12-15 of them but that seems like a lot of cichlids in a 3 foot tank. I was worried that it would be overcrowded in that sense. I know that they are pissy and need lots of targets to take out their hulk like anger on, but I dont want to have a Nitrate Factory! haha

Yeah I was going to say 12 as a min seems like the magic number with those mini psychos. It has probably been done in a 3ft tank, but like you said, fast and furious nitrate build ups.
