Can you please describe the traits that led to this ID and led you to discard other Pangasiidae? You may be right for all (the little) that I know. Just looking to learn.

I bought them from a LFS who sold them as Paroon sharks. But after I took them home I realized after close examination they were not the (Pangasius sanitwongsei) that are called Paroon. He said that's what his dealer sold them labeled to him. So after some long long internet searching I positively identified them as P. Bocourti. Very peaceful species only eats pellets an occasionally frozen shrimp.
Bocourti is a very robust fat bodied shape fat blunt head unlike the ID that is more slender and head more flat pointy. Its coloration is more whitish silver bottom with bluish gray top. Where the ID is more black.

Here's a video I did on them with some info about them I found.

lol, see this is why you are here. When I initially saw it I agreed in my brain without research because I had other things going on, but the actual fish that I was picturing in my head was Pangasius conchophilus or Pangasius pangasius. Not sure why. So in any case I rushed in without checking anything. I have not double checked any real sources with that being said. Looking at the pics available the two species I mentioned seem to have more in common than bocouri. I would also like to know where the op came across this info? :) you know what they say fools rush in lol. i am no pangasius expert by any means.

oh and for the record Pangasius larnaudii, and Paroon shark are the two species I would really love to own one day. :)

one last thing do you have pics of it when it was smaller? I am very curious about these if you do. Thanks

Got them at 4" very active but they never swam around the tank like the ID cat, They stayed in the corner swimming up and down on the glass. I took some video of them around 6" size you can see them at the 1:30 - 1:50 time. The other pangasius you see swimming around in the open are ID cats.

Once when they were about 7-8" they would both swim in a figure 8 on one end of the tank is super speed non stop for hours. I thought something was wrong with them but it was just weird behavior. Always staying in the back in the corner. Wasn't till they got over 12" before they would swim around the tank like other fish.

Here there at about 10" still staying in the corner but getting to big to stay completely in the back see them at the 2:40 - 2:55 time
