You can put plecos but your tank should be setup for a couple of months before you add plecos

about 9 to 10 inches. get an oscar for a 55. i have one growing out in my 29 ( almost 2 inches ) its a tiger and im already loving it and im getting a 55 in a few months YAY.

Don't get an Oscar. It will get too big for a 55.
