My flowerhorn is sitting at the bottom of his tank but comes up and swims around when I come near. What is wrong with him?

50 gallon tank. Not a new fish. He lost his hump a week ago and this week he started sitting at the bottom of the tank

Or looking at the tank he is bored. You need to give him stuff to interact with. Fish like large cichlids and puffers need brain stimulation i.e stuff to do.

6months. I dont have a testing kit right now but i put a heater and some rock salt today

How does it respond after a water change? You should get a liquid test kit asap.
