Help! Moving all my tanks and fish!

If you have a good relations with your LFS, and they are in between shipments and have empty tanks, ask them to hold your fish for you, then you can move your tank, setup and then take them back.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks, but I don't trust anyone with my fish, or the tanks! And I especially don't want my fishies in tanks that have previously had parasites or white spot or any other diseases. I'm way too paranoid for that.

i moved my fish more than 4 hours, twice! moved about 25 fish. i used multiple coolers, 15 gallon totes and a large 32 gallon trashcan. i didnt even use bubblers. but you can use peroxide to oxygenate the water if you are really worried. i even put all the decor in the coolers to give them something to get in. i also kept the gravel wet. and the filter media was just in the water as well. i had one 15 gallon tote that had no fish and just loaded it down with things that i thought should not dry out (filters, fake plants, rocks.) i didnt loose any fish and even drove highway speed. i did use alot of padding beneath the tank. good luck.

Yeah I'd say about 1/3 water 2/3 air, if you think about how fish are packed for transport when shipped, there's very little water and lots of air. You'll be fine! :)

Okay :) thanks guys. My fish are definitely in the top 3 most important things to me, so I'm a bit of a nervous wreck!

What kind of padding do you guys use under the tanks? When going over bridges there are a couple really big bumps that can't be avoided.

you can use large pieces of cardboard with a really thick quilt over it. also keep something on both sides and in front and behind the tank you dont want it sliding all over the place. i leave my gravel in the tank with just barely enough water so the rocks wont dry that way it has some weight to it to keep the sliding from happening. ive moved up to two tanks at one time a 75 gallon and a 25. both were fully stocked. try to keep at least 1/2 the original water. and the coolers will help with insulating the water to keep the temp from dropping really fast.
