For 30's with small fish, moving short distances, I would siphon out 2/3 of the water (making sure to suck out ALL of the crap in the gravel while emptying) and moving them all in one shebang.
For the 50g, you could do the same or put the fish in a plastic tub with some of the tank water, the fish, and a battery operated air pump.
