Did it alter your pH?
honestly i didnt check before or after. This will be my first fish lost in a couple years. So i never really checked my water params.

wow man. big loss.. I hope he'll snap out of it but it looks bad.. sorry to see it!

I had the same sand and a couple of RTC I had at the time did not sit well with it. They died from one day to the next. My Tig, Pbass, Dats, all the others....no prob. I dint find any water param changes at all...but this was the only change I made.

Ive had 3M sand since without issue.

I found this on a fish disease index
Q: My fish cannot swim correctly and whirls-wobbles around the tank

A: This sounds like a bacterial infection of the swim bladder.
Treatment: Use Erythromycin powder for 10 days. TMP Sulfa is also a good treatment for swim bladder disorders.

Looks like his swim baldder, I would place him in tank w\o decorations, keep the lights off. If the swim bladder is just swollen it will take some time before it heals and he will pull through, if its torn he will not.

Avoid feeding him for a few days, because if it is swollen it pushes on their digestive track and it will just cause more problems. If after 2 days he is still alive try feeding him like MET/Flake. Because this is a internal issue treating the whole tank with antibiotics really doesnt work.

Good luck
