Hi all

I got a flowerhorn about 4 inches stoped eating from about a month now and there is a red thing hanging down from his anus continuously from about a week it never go back inside it i think it is prolapsed intestine

i dont know what to do so anyone can help me how to treat it.

Soak your food in epsom salt and force him to eat. This will also work . ALso if he needs to be forced feed use a turkey baster.

For a 3% solution of Magnesium sulphate, add 1 level tablespoon (15 grams) magnesium sulphate to 500 milliliters of distilled water. Stir, and it's good to go

If it looks anything like the fish in the link posted below, it's called a prolapsed rectum, and IME the best course of action is an epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) bath. After having this condition for a full week, it's possible that your fish might not fully recover.

You should be able to source magnesium sulfate in Egypt, unless you live in the middle of the desert. :)

Approx 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Treat for the next several days, or until it gets absorbed back into his body. Basically it just helps reduce tissue swelling.
