This summer I have had the toughest time keeping ants out of my house.I have tried most of the spray stuff that Home Depot sells and the Combat traps but they seem to eat and thrive on it all.We clean up all food crumbs and dont leave any open food containers out but the vermin just wont leave.I am looking into having an exterminator come out but before I pay him to walk around and spray the house with stuff that I have probably already tried,I was wondering if anyone here has had this problem and what remedies you know of.

We get that here in Texas when it rains, or gets cold. I just poke them with my finger, one at a time.

Ortho Home Defense MAX with the sprayer worked for me though.

Dig a moat.

=)

I bought some raid in a light blue can. You spray it around the perimeter of any room that has a water & food source. My house was ant free for years. haven't had ants in teh new house, yet.....

We haven't had any ants this year, in the past though we used this gel stuff which they go nuts for. They all line up around it like little cows eating at the feeding trough, except they die afterwards.

Wait, that's not actually a difference.

I'd have to make it really wide, some ants can stack themselves and form a bridge so they can cross.I'd love one though,no one on Cribs has a moat.Sik-clid I think I tried that one.

leave a plate of sesame seeds out, it releases an oder that repels ants. thats what an ant expert suggested the other day on tv. worth a try, let me know if it works.

hahah so true...but sad...but delicious!

We get them bad too. I use both spray/ant baits but I think that the outside ant baits and inside ant baits made the most impact for me. We had an exterminator come out once for an estimate but he wanted $100.00 for a one time spray, and really wanted to sign a monthly contract as "he couldn't guarentee they wouldn't come back next month". So yeah they seem to come in waves, we fight them with sprays/baits, and they die down. Then usually a few months later they come back and we repeat.

I believe what we get here are odorus ants, yours I imagine are the same.
