Help! My O got beat up pretty bad

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Basically salt is salt. If you are using tap water then do not worry about iodized salt hurting anything. If this was a salt water fish i would not use table salt but fresh is fine with table. i personally use ice cream salt from walmart 4lbs for a 1.28. And when that is out I use table salt.

well you have a valid point apples to oranges ... Hardly, this is more like apples to nuclear physics (my fish to yours) the thing is my O might act like a dog and roll PVC elbow around and play with a pingpong ball but he's not getting prescriptions. I'll use what's in my fish med cab and get to lfs tommsro for some more but he's not breaking my bank. On a diff note I know somone that has paid for surguries for her fancy gold fish. Clearly they mean alot to her

When should I expect progress? I'm going to be getting maracyns and the tabs if I can find them. I was just about to start taking notes haha

Should start to heal in 3-4 days with the meds as long as no ammonia gets built up in the tank. I would think it will take a while to heal 100% but when the infections are gone he can return home for recovery. I would treat him for a week even if he looks great in a few days. Or longer if he does not.

so naturally I'm planning on a divider I bought that styrine/eggcrate and tommaro after WC I'll get to work but since the only dumb question is one not asked here goes

Aside from simply taking a chance by putting him back with who did thss to him without a divider is risking this all over but how do you feel about using a divider and then easing into no divider or a spot for only the O to fit thru the egg crate and though oscars are smart do you think he'd be smart enough to find his way back?

his aggression will over power any lesson learned and he will want to fight again. IMO-------------for them 2 I might try it in a 125-150g tank with some dither fish. Dither fish have a way of taking the attention away from other fish. And also they would have to introduced at the same time to the new tank. So no territory

great looking Dobe man I had one when I was a kid born a few weeks after me and she lived until we both shared our 13th B-days hah

I'm def going to get some of that cheap salt I'm adding it to the notes right now

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about my O not having a tankmate except for a pleco and he only lasted a day bc the O shredded his underbody and completly ripped everything out so I guess this shows how mean the Jag is then haha he beat up the high school bully

Just curious about salt, would salt you use for saltwater tanks be ok as well??

I dunno about that. Maybe it has a higher content of salinity so you want have to use as much or somthing to maintain the right ratio of salt to water.

Might have to ask in another thread thisone doesn't seem to have any action.
