Got home today And my bichir looks like he shed, or off color, has a few red lines on his body and swimming a lot, could he be fighting with another bichir. I have another ornate and lap about the same size. There was also breeding going on last week. They don't shed do they. My ppms are all in check

I have another 125 I could put him un but when the giant tank gets here, I was gonna combine both ranks anyway

He has been floating up and down and bubbles are comming from him. Will stop feeding and AQ work, think it I'd bloat

Pictures would help tremendously! if he doesn't seem on the brink of death i would separate since you dont want your other bichirs to get it if contagious, also read through the polypterus health care sticky its a great source for sick polys

hey it is a bacterial infection, can i get the medications at the local chain store, how could thi happen, I have a fx6 and a AC110 on the tank
and do 50 )% changes on it each week

Ok was told to use kalaplex in qt tank and use light dose of mela and pima to treat whole tank to kill leftover bacteria

Good plan, I'm unfamiliar with the first med but the only time I had a serious bacterial I just used salt and melafix and that worked. Just be sure mixing those is safe

I can't find kalaplex anywhere except the Seachem site, suppose to be a concentrate antibiotic
