So my poor motoro stingray, which just recently recovered from a shed stinger stuck into itself, has been injured once again. I fed the tank around 3 this afternoon and everything was just find. Well, I went downstairs about an hour ago and found my angelfish that have been living with him for almost a year picking his skin off as he tried to swim away from them. Anyways, I separated him in a 20 gallon tank by himself and added erythromycin, salt, and melafix to the tank to prevent a bacterial infection and promote healing. Anything else I should do? Anyways, here are some pics.

Ouch that's bad, good luck, I'd just do tons of water changes n keep the lights off

Shouldn't have moved the ray. Should of moved the aggressor. This is bad. Never move the stressed/injured fish. I feel horrible, but putting him/her in a small temporary uncycled tank with all those medications is not a great idea.

Best of luck.

Some of the best advice i've come across on this forum ...simple but absolutely right!
Well said !!

i had parents chew there pups once and it was disgusting, it made me sick to my stomach for like 5 days.. i took 55 gallons of water out of the tank they were born in (hours after they were born) and put them in a 55 did lots of water changes and added a little bit of salt every change and they were fine.. i was in a hard place i didnt have a spare 400 gallon to put the parents in lol. but crazyness is right if you can avoid it if it ever happens again dont move the hurt ray..

Is it just one angelfish?? How big? 1 hr and an angel did all that? I don't see that happening... But maybe it can

Well, I did remove him by scooting him into a container so he wasn't lifted out of the water. The tank was cycled btw, I was using it to grow out a silver arowana and my bichirs. I will do twice daily 50% water changes using water from the display tank.

sorry can not help, how is your ray? getting better?
The redness seems to have gone down, and he is actively exploring his tank.

Just one other thing you should do... get rid of the stupid angel fish.
I plan on moving all the other fish to a different tank now. It will be just the motoro and my silver arowana once the aro is big enough. I also need to figure out what tank to move the angels to.

It is two large angelfish. There is also a small belly crawler pike and a grasscutter catfish in the tank. But I came downstairs and the angels were picking at him.

those wounds are nothing for a ray. you should have done nothing at all except maybe add salt. i see worse when my males beat on my females! rays are tough freaks of nature. that melafix stuff is a gimmick .i would remove meds.
those wounds look self inflicted on tank decor or filter pipes ect. i had a pearl that would always hurt it self like this if infact thats what happened.but none of your fish are tough enough to peel skin off rays like that!
