Help my poor ray!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks to be maybe heater burn. Are your heaters covered? If they are then it looks like it could be inflicted from some kind of ornaments in the tank like calgaryflames stated.

The heaters are covered, and there are no ornaments in the tank that could do that. I guess I'll remove them before I put him back in anyways though. It'll just be the ray, my arowana, and some plastic plants on a bare bottom tank.

First off, why?

Lol

On another note,,,, your ray will be fine.I'n cases like this meds would only make it worse ! rays are very resilient ,extremely tough animals ! skin wounds are nothing. I've seen exposed bones from wounds similar and the heal fine. Nothing more than pure clean h20 will do ,a bit of salt . Rays are amazing animals but many people on this forum do not realize what they are keeping ,and what that animal deserves .would you keep a horse I'n your bedroom ?? 20 gallons is a joke dude! Even for a pup. I feel bad for my rays.

I would have to say the angels where picking at wounds caused by something else too. I really don't see an angel fish causing that damage. Hope he heals up well for you

look like bite marks to me not from a angel fish tho. long as she is feeding well rays recover quick. i too would not put any meds in just water changes every cuple days. 20 gal is to small my man i would put her back in bigger tank an remove the cats and angles..

I know they are a great animal. That's why I purchased him as a stunted rescue over a year ago. I completely changed the stock in my 180 gallon purely for him. I had the plans in place to purchase a 8x4x2 tank for him and my arowana. I only removed him from the tank because I thought it would be easier to medicate.

Unfortunately, he didn't make it.
