HELP!!!!! my ray got bitten up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have kept all sorts of geos with my rays, but the only ones i have ever got rid of was brasiliensis. they kept biting the disc and tip of the tail.
i know this sounds stupid but try and watch the tank from a distance and also after you switch the lights off to spot the culprit.
but my money would be on the brasiliensis. i know they are classed as geos but they are much more robust with a more forward facing mouth than the rest of the family with downturned sand sifting mouths.

just my thoughts

Braziliensis are more aggro the typical Geos/Eartheaters. As stated above, dim lights,
sit back away from the setup and wait. The culprit will show themselves.
They can't resist.

they are septerated. i spoke to the owner befor me today he said never once was there a problem. i think it might b the rays fighting or maybe the gars. also the clay pots i have in the tank are broken. the seding dosnt feal sharp to me but maybe to them who knwos.

try uping your feeding, sometimes when rays are hungry they get agitated and get more agressive toward each other
I would think along the same line as turkeyboy since the bite marks are around the edge of the disc.

What do the bite marks look like? Are the disk edges torn or do the rays have white abrasive looking marks on their backs. I have a mean female right now that from a distance minds her business but as soon as there is movement in front of the tank she goes into a feeding frenzy and bites anything she can fit in her mouth.

pix?

DAYM. i hope my female or my male dnt get like that. so far there are no bites. the rays r by them selves . so i geuss in a week i will put the geos back n see if any thing happens.if nothing happens then it was the gars

ight so i bin really lookin at the motoros and i dnt see any fighting at all going on. i didnt feed them for a day to see if any fighting showed. but nothing. i geuss they just love each other to much .ha. but yeah the bite marks are small almost v'z. WILL THE DISK HEAL BACK TO NORMAL OMFG IT IS HEALING SLOW!!!!!. but yeah the gars i am 80% sure it wasnt them. The geos are i think the only things i can think of that did it. but idk.

disk will heal.... some pix would be nice.... add some salt and keep your water pristine

no cam =( (wish i could take pics of my cuties) ha. son i will have pics up n every thing.
