HELP My Rays!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd be all over that water..... Most high end spa places have fancy computer water analyzers. Mine require a small donation but they can check you for the metals and such.

Does ISU have plenty of water to run tests on?

If there's another you should get it out to MSU then compare..... I got suggested meds along with what they found in my ray.

Wishing you the best man....

They have a half gallon of water but it's not the same water that started this. I wish I would have saved some water from last Thursday. They seemed rather excited to have the opportunity to perform the necropsies on my rays. I told them to run all the tests that they can. I will call some spa businesses tomorrow. I hadn't thought of that. Our tap is still piss yellow and I have water from a few days after the initial issue so I will give it a try. My marble and hybrid are still eating so I hope they pull through:/ My preggo female stopped eating yesterday so I imagine she will be going next. She has had a bit of something sticking from her vent since yesterday as well. I imagine she is trying to abort.

from what i've been told (by my city water source as well as work experience), water is only valid up for 48 hrs or something, before the test results are worthless, less if checking for chlorine levels. I can't remember for certainty, but somewhere in this time range. so sadly the samples would have been void.
I hate seeing this, and sadly the water treatment and your city will deny deny deny and refuse to reimburse you at all for your losses. they did it to me.

I'm no expert but I would think that the various chemical substances that are toxic to fish, do not simply dissipate out of solution in 48 hrs. (lead, mercury, etc) If they did, it would be a neat trick. According to a local water facility operator, one with probably close to 40 yrs experience under his belt, told me that even chloramine (a mix of chlorine & ammonia) can remain near full strength in tap water for a week or more.

They told me that normal procedure is to notify residents before making a main cut. This was a planned cut of which the supervisor of public works failed notify city hall. They are tearing down our 100+yr old elementary school. They cut through a 5" main and attempted to couple it live but it was too much water so they then had to shut down the water tower in order to proceed. Many people are complaining about losing entire loads of laundry due to the sediment stirred up. It has been over a week and our water is still dehydrated piss yellow/brown. I would definitely consider this situation to be negligence. The trick will be connecting their negligence to my dead rays... I just hope I can save at least 2 of the 8 :(

Distilled would be the same as ro water but from a better source than your local water. Are you having trouble getting water from a different city or town that would be good?

Momma popped out 3 healthy looking premies. There are more pups alive inside of her but not coming out. It has been a couple of hours:/

Really sorry for your losses.

Do you have access to bottled water? I would get some and start doing a water change to change 25% out. It will help to dilute your bad water.

Hopefully you town will step up. I had this happen to me 15 years ago in a big city wiping me out of 3000 angelfish and their response was they only have to meet minimum drinking water standards and not fish keeping standards and would not compensate me. Is there a no drinking or boil water advisory on in your town?
