Ahh I didnt see your replies to all that. I will switch the greens I throw in for everyone then.

As for the current thats not as much as you think. I have a T coming off the main pump on the back left corner of the pond that sends the water to the water return log area. The water coming out of the log pushes the water back to the front left corner where the pump is. There is maaaybe an ever so slight whirlpool effect but hardly anything more than just enough to make a leafe make it to the pump eventualy. With the fish swimming and the turtle swimming it kicks up anything else that might settle. Its really not that strong. How deep the the dirt need to be on this land area?

I have been thinking of ideas on how to build a large land area with out covering the pond. I think I might build a area on the right side of the pond where the water log return is....over the box that covers the filter...might redo the way the filter is hidden buy putting it under a large land area. I can "fence" it in so the only way off the land area is back into the pond.

Questions...is she done laying eggs this season? Can I wait till right before spring to build the land area? She probably wont be in it for this winter anyway.
Assuming that she hasnt developed any eggs this breeding season you can wait untill next spring. But she can have yet to be laid eggs inside of her wich is comon when they dont have a place to lay them. Almost all my females lay eggs every single year. To take all doubths is just question to take her to the vet and have a xray done on her. If no eggs apear your on the clear:D The substrate I use is vegetable based dirt mixed with sand and more mineral laden dirt. It must be at least 12inches tick;)

Little update....her open wound is looking pretty good. Doesn't look like its getting any worse so thats good. Only setback was just now....after I had her in her tub for an hour I was putting her back in the pond and noticed one of her nails got broke off while she was climbing around in her tub. There was a little blood and im sure the nail will come all the way off. It looked like she lost one already (probably dead nail) so I am guessing this one was going to come off anyway. Im sure they will re-grow. All in all I feel good about the look of her hand now. Seems to have stabalized some?!?!

I think youll be fine. Desinfect the broken nail with betadine. What about that X-ray?;)

Got a xray on monday...no eggs left!

The wound is looking the same....she still doesnt use that hand that much...she also doesnt move around the pond like she used to....at least she still has that hand.

did you even read the thread before posting?

good to hear NOLA, glad things are starting to look up.

Err yeah I did love.
But personally I don't think theres much else advice on a forum we can give for this than, go the vet, and keep going!

Animals eh..who'd have them :grinno:
