Help,My son's cat keeps peeing in his bed!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Krich, usually either a health issue or a sign that the cat is displeased. Box not clean enough, new litter, new household member or loss of, new schedule, anything that changed the cats life can cause it. If nothing has changed it's vet time.

It depends on why it is peeing. Get the cat fixed and that would solve any territory marking issues. My cat is fixed so I don't have that issue. I did have an issue with her peeing behind a tank though, out of the blue. She stopped using the litter box and it was due to a urinary tract infection or something similar so that could be your issue as well. New litter is another reason or if you moved the litter box from its normal spot can be a problem for a cat as well. If you don't clean the litter box that can cause the cat to go elsewhere too.

I agree with what's already been said, chances are its either marking, unhappy with it's litterbox, or has an UTI. If if looks like there are crystals in the urine than it's probably a UTI can can be cleared up easily.

Do you own any other cats? Male cats won't typically spray if there is no territory to "defend", so to speak. Neutering/spaying is a must for me with any pet as it tames them a bit. I may also suggest a health issue if it persists after the neutering. I had a female cat for 12 years, never went in house. One day she did, then I found out she had cancer.

here are some wild guesses:
1) sick, telling you he/she is unwell by peeing
2) pissed off/ being unhappy, my mum said my cat peed and pooped in my bedroom when i was not home for 3 months last time...
3) if he's a boy not yet desexed, he does it coming of age :)

I am following the pissing issue, but know nothing about cats, unfortunately :)

Interesting list....and Strollo I don't have any other cats.

KRICH.. luckily I HAVE DEALT with cat issues ... new litter or change in surroundings might be the cause OR TERRITORY ISSUES ..try locking cat in bathroom for a day or 2 with catbox and food and water this might work ... the cat is prob stressed about something and will learn ,,,, dont give up on him easy ... and fixing him SHOULD HELP... GOOD LUCK,, cats are great pets..:) he WILL COME AROUND

FYI and maybe your vet: my dog tested positive for Cryptosporidium through the "IDEXX Canine Diarrhea Panel". (Google that test for more info & see if there is a feline version &/ or ask your vet).
the treatment for that is eliminating her pissing accidents. The bacterial infection is not a UTI. I believe that when her intestines are inflamed, it is so close to her bladder, the first thing she feels is the urge to pee.
I see no reason that the same thing could not happen in a cat.
THIS was not something the vet expected, it is a pleasant surprise. Only down side is, this bacteria is so horrible pets often must remain on the meds. The Up side is, only the test costs real money. the med is very economical. a pinch of powder 2x a day in food.
Worth asking the vet to culture urine while cat is being neutered. the test I got was from a stool sample.
