HELP!!! my sting ray was attacked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the culprit was the pleco, the hole on the motoro was almost completely round, and they would be the only explanation to me, but sorry for your loss

A round hole could be caused by heater burn. Wish the OP would have had a close up picture of the injury. Was the underside of the fish damaged or just the top? I'm still thinking that heater burn caused the problems.

nothing on the bottom side at all just the top all my heaters have covers now and im taking down the rock piles and doing something better i just want my ray to have lots of area and hiding spots for me knifes any ideas?

The rock piles are an accident waiting to happen (same with the heater and other tankmates). Stacked rocks WILL fall as some point (likely on a ray or other fish)...those piles would not last a night with a slightly larger ray. Best of luck, better yet do more research before you keep more rays.

I had a gar with a stingray. One day he just attacked it. I took out the little stingray and put in a large stingray-thinking the size difference would deter future attacks. Nope way back when I was a teenager I got a call from my dad that went something like: Hey Son- your pointy fish has your flat fish in his mouth. When I got there sure enough the gar was swimming around with the stingray firmly implanted in his mouth although there was no possible way for him to eat it since the ray was as big as the gar.
