Are his eyes cloudy? If so, check your ammonia and start considering an antibiotic for internal parasites.

Can you rub his skin off with your finger? Is it sloughing (sluffing)? I would set up a hospital tank fast, bare bottom, cycled filter, fresh water, good heat.

a anti biotic for internal parasites?:screwy:

i would increase the temp and add salt after you do a large water change like 50% large dont forget to add prime etc....

he still eating and active as usual??

if so, i would hope for some kind of growth defect so to speak or something of that nature??

Yes, he's still eating as usual, still swims around, but just not as active as before

Eyes still clear, not cloudy, so i dont think its the ammonia, may be bacteria i guess. Skins are fairly sloughing and can be rub off slightly with finger

I would get a qt for him and bump up the temp and add salt, but other than that im really stumped. good luck with him.

already added salt, but should i add the normal amount or more than usual? I also increased the temp to 30C, need any higher??? thanks

30c = 86f that temp is perfect... a lil extra salt wont hurt also do a large water change..... then re add the salt

have you got a heater in the tank ?

if yes do you have a heater gaurd ?

I do 1/5 water change twice a week, ammonia level is normal, but not sure about nitrite, need to buy a kit to check

What is normal? it should be 0 what is it actual reading and what are your other parameters? You should test them all. I personaly think this is from Ammonia in your water. I have seen this happen on weak and stressed out pups. We had a small ammonia spike from some left over food that spoiled and and we saw these signs. I dont think has anything to do with parasites. Raise temp to 86-88 add salt two teaspoons per 10 gallons. Ammonia is known to burn the disk of rays so thats my best educated assumption.
