Has anyone had any experience with Omnifilter filter cartridges?

I just bought a 2 pack of 15000 gallon Carbon filters for $10. Model T01-DS. This seems a little too good to be true compared to all the other Carbon blocks I have been looking at.....

Can anyone confirm IF these are indeed good to go in a drip system filter for the 15000 gallon recommended life?

I was looking at the heavy duty filter and filter holders.... $50 for the holder $50 for the 15000 gallon filter. I imagine this is one of those cases where if it's too good to be true it probobly is.....

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out here......

No Chloramine here. Talked to public water department.... Never have and said they never will use chloramines.... I have a test kit to make sure but my fish sensai also said that for over 20 years he has ran drips at his LFS and they consisted of nothing more than carbon filters.

Why would overall maintainance be cheaper though? Please enlighten me.... I've never set a drip system up before.

He uses the bigger size.

So if they are the same as yours I should be good to go.

Man I really wish I had time to research all this stuff more but the mess I have here won't allow it and this is just the beginning :(

Thanks guys!

Run them in series (the housings are cheap enough) and test the output for chlorine at least monthly. I have been using them with varying success. When my water company jacks up the chlorine over 2ppm then I get chlorine coming through the filter. I have tested my Cl2 at over 10ppm on more than one occasion :( At those times, only a block filter like the ones that Pharoh recommended will do.

Thanks for the reply Chompers. I guess I need to turn my drip system off till I'm sure if what I have is gonna work. I began running it last night and only have 1 cheap carbon filter in it.

So 1 cheap carbon filter isn't gonna do the trick?

Is there such a thing as a Chlorine monitor I can get so I do know when to change the carbon? Seems the test kits are kinda spendy at $5/ test.

Guess my best bet is gonna be to get the refillable carbon filters from the filter guys?

I live in a town with a poplulation less then 10K. I know our water dept doesn't use chloramine, I'm checking now to get an idea of the max PPM of chlorine I'm gonna run into.

Guess I'm going to get a crash course in water chemistry now. It appears the expensive part of a drip system has eluded me..... Monitoring the water.

You can buy the full API test kits for about $15-$20. You can use them quite a few times.
