The API one I have doesn't do Chlorine..... Chlorine seems to be a bit tougher of a test kit to find. So far this is the best deal I've found.

Pharaoh, How often (timewise or gallonwise) do you change the carbon in the "filter guys" reusable carbon filters?

Go with the petsmart ones. $6 and your good for 25 tests.

They say it is rated for 5K gallons. I actually have to retract my earlier 6 mo statement. I'm actually going on close to a year with perfect water parameters. I just have a bit of ammonia, which is just a byproduct of removing the chloramine, so it is irrelevant to you.

i have had large doses of chlorine go through my 3 filters, and the filters took out more then half of the the chlorine

the little bit of chlorine dosnt do much so i just turn off my drip for a day or two. or i will just dump in some prime

ive never had any probs except when i failed to replace my filters at the right time, then having the water company dose w chlorine :irked:

i use a pool test kit to test for chlorine. much cheaper then most

So considering the price of the filters, the fact they are refillable, and the peace of mind of being able to remove chloramine if it was to be used, it seems to me it would be rather silly to NOT go with those filters, as they obviously are cheaper in the long run.

IS 1 enough? OR do I need a pair?

I'd be much happier IF I was a millionaire too..... LOL

Is 2 really necassary? OR would 3 be even better?

Just wondering where to draw the line.....

Well seeing your stock of rays you might as well be a millionaire!! I have read many threads and done alot of research about drips and they are the only way to go with rays! I honestly would do 3 I will give you optimum water quality !! But if money is a great issue do three and add another in the future!

That's good stuff right there.... Not a single pure black ray in the house...... Far from a millionaire, I just have my priorities "F"ed up.

Drip is definetly the way to go, but I drug my feet cause I'm in a rental property and thought I was going to be able to get out and into my own house.... Well do to my "F"ed up priorities that's not happenin.

I'll give the filter guys a call, but considering the ppm of chlorine in my water (1 ppm) I really can't see why I'd need more then 1 filter, I'll do 2 to be safe but can't justify any more then that.
