Help needed for pearl aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Check your filter. Do a cleaning up on the spong and change of filter wool if there's any in there.

A partial water change almost every two days will be good for a start and add slightly more salt in there. Keep temp at 28'C will do.

If everything gos well, you should see result as soon as on the next day itself.

first of all, you really need to know about the cycle of tanks before buying a aro.

with smaller fish, that do not produce so much waste its different.

arowanas produce VASTS amount of waste! wow, you wont believ eit. They can digest food in a matter of hours and hungry for more.
mine eat 3 to 4 shrimp a day thtas bigger than its own face. thats in one day!

Firs ti would google the info on Amonia, Nitrite and nitrates.
Then iw ould get test kits

i personally dont check them anymore, i have massive filters, i know they are cycled well and just change water, but occasionally i check to make sure, i just change the water regularly, 30 to 40% every week or twice a week.

i have a fluval fx5 and a over flow also.

you need to ensure your filtration is enough.

the tank size seems ok, it can stay there for abit more. as long as the width of the tnk isnt less than then length of the fish, then i guess its ok.

go to the fish store, and buy some CYCLE or a concentrated bacteria solution. Rea sea makes good ones.
Pour a few capfulls in there daily.

make sure you have plenty of BIO MEDIA in your external filter. Not just filter wool.
Clean the gravel or remove it completely for awhile.

Arowanas are really really messy animals, they crap a whole lot of toxins all the time. so you need a strong ass filters, 1000 litre per hour filter isnt enough sometimes, because thats the output at level on the water line, but their effectiveness is probalby just 200 to 300 litres per hours of actual filtration.

Hey Guys. No reply? Pls help me out with some more ideas and remidies. I would be really greatfull to all of u if u help me to save my arowana.

I belive you received good advice already.

As to the nitrates, you need to buy a testing kit. Your LFS should have several.

dont feed the tank for a week. i know a guy with feirce gill curl to the point that you can see exposed red gills. another one i know has a very slight curl. lower nitrates etc by changing water at 40 percent every two days and dont feed until your filter is working properly. the fish can go without food for a long time, put off desire for growth. being too kind when water is bad is a no no.

oh yeah and get the test kits, youll need s,ight nitrates to kick the filter in. then work feeding up slowly, but do as the guy said and learn about filter cycles for time it takes but youll see it on the test kit when its allright.

First i would like to thank you all for your valuable advises.

As of now the Gill covers are not stuck to the body. they are a little Concave but i guess it is the starting stage. I'm changing 30 to 40 % Water once in every 2 days. and i have kept the temperature also to 32 degrees.

Can anyone tell me is there any harm in adding Salt? If no then how much can i add?
Will it help my fish if salt is added?
And can i add medicines like Mr.Yellow(Antiseptic) & Mr.Blue?

Mr. Koji Please do not feel offended that i'm asking again whether salt can be added or not. It is just that i'm very scared and worried.

Kindly tell me how much to add?
