Hi, I have been out of fish keeping for a couple of years now due to financial constraints but a mate has gone to Indonesia on honeymoon and left me to look after his collection of rays. I don't feed them, he has someone else to do that and they feed them twice a day about half a glass. I do a water change of half a tank once a week. The tank is a 8x3x3 with a sump of 5x2x2, so quite big water changes.
The reason for this post is that I noticed last week a mark on one of the females but over the week it has got much worse. Before my mate went away, he did say that he thought the big male and female may be trying to mate and he seemed to be biting her. As you can probably see by the pics (sorry, phone pics) that the injuries look more like rotting flesh or burning. The other rays seem fine, the two smaller ones tend to be a lot more shy when I am around the tank and hide in the sand. The sizes are approx 2 x 14-16", 1 x 18-20" (female) and 1 x 20-22" (male). Any more info required, I will do my best to answer. My mate returns on the 16th August so hoping everything will be ok.
Many thanks
