Can someone help me ,I dosed my aquarium with finrot and fungus treatment..firstly it says I needed to remove any zeolite or carbon filter media...is the sponge filter carbon or zeolite??or neither..I've taken it out just in case, but my filters running with no media...what should I do???also there alot of fizzing going on is that normal...my yellow lab ray, passed away yest 😪and I've noticed a couple of the other looking the same.hence why I done the treatment ..anyhelp would be so gratefully appreciated

Sorry to hear that your fish passed. Your sponge is not carbon or zeolite so please replace it right away.

Carbon and zeolite are chemical filtration that look like gravel and they will adsorb/absorb your medications, that’s why you remove those while treating a tank. Most people don’t use those in their tanks

The sponge not only collects physical waste but is also a place for beneficial bacteria to grow. They are what’s making it safe for your fish to live in an aquarium. It’s not good that you took the sponge out since most of the bacteria probably died overnight.

Not sure what you mean by fizzing unless you added tablets that fizz in water. You really shouldn’t medicate unless you know what disease your fish has first. You should do a water change and post pictures of your fish

Nk you so much for your reply,so firstly I'd only just taken the media out and placed it into a bucket of the tank water before dosing so it's OK it was out of the tank an hour but in the original tank water .I also have bio media(bio balls and other bits in it is that ok??...so atm I can't see too much on fish apart from ones tail is scraggly..ray(the yellow lab that passed..he started acting weird at first..not he's self..hiding in the corner, not eating..then he's body and fins looked rough ,the next day he was floating around on he's back on the bottom of tank ..he's tail almost half hanging of...then that afternoon he passed away...I separated him instantly..then I noticed another doing the same as him hiding in the corner upright...now today Almost all of them not eating and not thereselfs.

Put all your bio media back in the filter.

It sounds like aggression, can you isolate any fish that are hiding in corners in separate tanks? I would stop medicating. The damage is caused by bites. The fishkeeper rarely sees the aggression, just the result such as damage and hiding.

What are the dimensions of your tank and what is your stock list?

Hi there so I'm asking pls are you able to give me any advice..I notices today my yellow tail acei, has like a white bit of something hanging off he's eye..its quite small but it looks like either cotton wool disease or its an injury where he has scraped it ...so I've treated the tank for the cotton wool disease, but was wondering what can I put in the tank incase it's an injury...I've read about salt...somebody said Epsom salts, but then someone else said normal salt..I been looking at melafax..I need some advice as I don't want he just left..especially if she suffering g. Many thanks in advance for your time...I can send a picture if it helps
