shelled peas? il bear that in mind just in case it happens again, thankyou.

Miguel, your advice was better than nothing and i did put one or 2 extra teaspoons in, becuase i remember that somewhere it said put a handfull in every other day for a week. but luckily iv not done any damage. :D

mmmm, nice lol. cheers for that though, definitly worth keeping for future reference

Sorry im late here, i missed it earlier. I like to keep a container of epsom salts for just this problem. It not only is soothing for the fish but helps by acting as a laxitive. I cant remember the dosage but know i have seen on several sites specializing in frontosa that it is often used at the first signs of float/bloat and other digestive problems with some success, that is better than the no success when left untreated.

Glad it turned out well for the fish !!

glad everything worked out well... happy to hear good news.

Glad to hear that he made it through the ordeal. I have added another note to the "Things to know" list.

 well, although it wasnt because of the float, they all died. not sure what happened :(
2 plecs, catfish and bichir survived but lost the rest.
came to the conclusion that it must have been lack or air or something coz apparently my air pump was on the blink the night before :(
but been and got 2 fhs and a 3 frontosa juvies!!! :D
although i will never forget my others i cant wait to raise these.

thanks for all ur help anyway though x

ouch!
I almost lost a whole tank of fish to oxygen deprivation. I had them housed in a 90 gallon temp tank while I set up my new 180. I moved established canister filters to the 180 and had it up and running before moving my fish. Within a few minutes of them hitting the water in the 180, they started dropping. I lost 2/3 of my fish because I wasn't watching them closely enough as I put them in the new tank. I've moved fish from tank to tank for over 30 years and have never seen anything like it. After days of diagnoses and testing, we determined it was lack of oxygen that did it. All I did was add 3 large sponge filters with a large air pump running them and all was well. I've been running the same tank for 3 years now with the exact same filtration and have had no problems since. What is really weird is that I've had almost the same filtration(without the extra air running) set up on other tanks with no problems at all. This hobby keeps you on your toes, that's for sure.
