I went to check my rhom this morning and I noticed there are some small white stringy things floating around in the tank, after a closer look I was like WTF~! worms?? where did they come from? never seen them in the tank before. could it be from the plants (most of the plants are already in the tank for months)? or the fish itself?

most importantly what can I use to KILL them all without hurting my rhom? :help2:

Dont worry they dont harm your fish this is a sign u are overfeeding your fish or not doing enough water changes

what are they? where did they come from? why would it caused by not enough water changes? just trying to understand.

I am not sure but when i had the same problem it all began im guessing because of my amazon sword plant.. i just noticed you have plants>>> so i was worried researched in the forums and found out they are not dangerous.. If i am right they are hairlike worms and move really quick right... move the rocks around and you will see more... I am not sure how to get rid of them the way i did was wash the rocks competely and got new sponge carbon for the filter>>> can someone confirm that they are harmless

Thanks. they are hairlike worms, about 1/4" long and no more than 1/2" long. white color, some of them are somewhat transparent.
If they are harmless then I won't worry about them. but if they are then
I can get new sponges and do 50% water change and vacuum the gravel as well. Should I also wash the bio media? then that'll probably kill most of not all bacterials in them.

Now come to think of it I remember had them in my other 10 gallon tank before then somehow they all disappeared. also had them in my old rbps tank long time ago.

if someone can confirm that they are harmless that would be great~!
