My son saved up for a stingray and we brought a mini marble moto (named stinger) and we have had him since August, after 5 weeks of having him my brother asked if he could keep his stingray in our tank as his tank cracked and had a new one getting built. Both stingray were fine. Today my brother took his stingray back. And since then my sons stingray has not been active is laying up against the side of the glass. When it does glass surf it swimming into the glass with a bit of force on occasions. He is also lifting the back of it disc up only slightly. He is also breathing heavy. He has eating shrimp today after my brother stingray had gone. I have checked all the water and they are all spot on for our tank, ammonia 0, no3 0, ph is 7.6 all ways has been. No new fish have been added, and rocks in the tank have been pushed forward from getting other stingray out and need to be moved it’s only this corner that has rocks and I didn’t want to move them and stress the stingray out even more. Could it be a case of missing the other stingray or is my son stingray a course of concern. As he generally very active with window surfacing or playing in the air stone bubbles

U.K
Sounds to me as though your ray is missing the other. Rays can be known to sulk. I have seen it many times especially when placing a divider in a tank to split them up. As long as your water is ok your ray should be fine in a day or so. Probably a little stressed from the environment being moved around.

Thank you for your advise, he is slowly getting back to himself. So I do think he was just sulking and is missing the other ray
