HELP!! New to angels, subdom not eating.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I overfed the tank with brine shrimp yesterday, and the little angel got some. Today, though all my angels were at the top feeding time, so I guess he was just slow on the pickup. Anyway, thank you everyone for the help. I am looking into those wingless flies, they look like endless live food for less than $10! If I can figure out how to do it, it'll be fun.

Happy to hear that the little Angel ate something. Keep in mind frozen Brine shrimp isn't very nutritional so use in rotation with other foods.

Thanks. I rotate feedings randomly. I only got a little brine shrimp, they won't last long. The little angel is eating the flake too now.

hello; I have tried a few ways to grow the vestigial winged drosophila and found the plastic vials and dry food from the supply company to be the better way.
The dry food keeps well for a long time as long as it is kept dry and sealed. A small amount is placed in a vial and a little water is added. After a bit it firms up.
The vial of flies will produce new flies for a couple of weeks or more at a good rate. After a week or so I would start a new vial and dump a few flies into it. I have managed to keep the flies going for many months (maybe years) at a time by paying attention.

I suggest you get a dozen at least of the vials. That way you can have enough to rotate thru the cleaning and re using the vials. Get the foam plugs and plastic mesh as well. If you get some and have questions send me a PM.

Bettas really like them. Perhaps the best fly freeder was an emperior tetra. He/she would dart quickly to the surface to get the flies. Fun to watch.
Good luck
