HELP New to Cichlids - Already messed up once!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
rams, corys, and tetras would be good.

Or you could do a few angels.

depends on if you'd rather a bunch of little fish, or a few large ones

Indeed they will, but their not from the amazon :D

Ive got a little bit of a soft spot for the hatchets though.

Either way, sounds like you should have a nice looking biotope. Slap a couple of easy to grow plants in there and it'll look pretty impressive.

One thing though. Angels will try to eat thin tetras, and they generally like to be kept in small shoals of 4 or more.

Any indepth questions about angels should really go in the angels and discus section, those boys will give you a much more accurate answer then i can even dream of. :)

Those hatchets look pretty cool! I will have to see if I can get some.

hatchet fish are my favorite top-dwellers in community tanks.

Ok so now I am off to the SA Forum to learn about rams! And the angels / discus to learn about them. And find out more about hatchets! This is pretty nice....getting my questions answered! Thank you all for your help!

that's what we're here for.

welcome, by the way.

didn't realize you were new.

Yeah, welcome to MFK.

Will see you in my usual haunt, the SA/CA forum. Its where the cool kids hang out apparently. :D

Hatchets are easy. just make sure you have a tight fitting lid, as "apparently" their the only fish in the world that has powered flight.

hatchets are loads of fun, i have four in my loach tank, they have a neon and black setup instead of natural in my tank, because when the swim by neon plants and caves the color reflects off their scales. really neat fish
