My ornate just started laying on his side and spassing out and swimming with no direction. I have no idea why, tested the water quality all was good, zeros across the board. He just ate like a pig Thursday night, I wasn't going to feed him again to try to reduce waste in the water in case I lose power. He is approximately 4 inches long and has been healthy since i got him. The current tank he is in is a 55, with two HoB filters a few angelfish. lots of plants and a sand bed.

*water quality is good
*Temp of the tank hasn't fluctuated
* both filters running well.
* no tankmate agression
*ate chopped silversides Thursday night
*Outer appearance is normal besides behavior

His gills are alittle flared maybe? He just looks tired. I righted himself. But still just staying still. IMG_20170909_193532166.jpg

When u say 0 accross the board do you mean 0 nitrate ?

Could be trapped air. If so dose the tank with epsom salts. 1tbls per 5 or 10 gal

Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate- >5.0ppm

Just using API liquid test kits. That's about as accurate as I can do atm.
i can try the Epsom salt, i can't imagine it would hurt anything, and i really dont want to lose this guy he is quickly becoming my favorite fish I own.

Hard to say could be simple as trapped air. Maybe post a video of what it's doing. Sounds like it kind of traumatic injury and now rolling around and spazzing out.

Post a vid. Might shed some light.

He seems to be doing alittle better, he found himself a spot out of the current towards the top of the tank. On top of a bunch of java moss. He looked like he was having trouble in the current of the tank. Which there is alittle flow but nothing monstrous at all.

If he falls back to the bottom and starts getting pushed around again I will video. But right now he is just sitting still.

It may just correct itself on its own. Sounds like trapped air. Which causes buoyancy/balance issues. Sometimes happen after big feeding. Cross fingers that it gets better.

I did put extra slices of silversides in the tank for him to eat. In anticipation of not feeding for a while. I didn't know anything about trapped air. This is my first poly. I really like him so I hope he is ok. He seemed to be alright when I turned the tank light off. Perched on the Java moss away from the current.

I dosed with 1tbs of epsom per 10 gallons. After I did a water change just to be safe. Fingers crossed.
