Have large Jag that likes to patrol tank and hassles smaller FH pretty hard. Is there anything I could do without having to get new tank or give one away. My tank is only a 90 gallon I believe. Any advice?

Dithers are only gonna add to a tank that will already be overstocked...how does that solve anything? Either get a bigger tank, or get rid of one of the fish, there's no way around it...

Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way around getting either a separate or a bigger tank for them. You could add lots of decor and lower the temp a little, maybe even add dithers but, all these will only work for so long, if the work at all. Sorry and good luck.

In my opinion a screen is the only sure set way to prevent stress for your fish. Theres plenty of diy separators on here. Otherwise I would say add LOTS and Lots of cover, as well as some flow. You can also try rearranging the tank and allowing redominance but this is normally a temporary fix. If you have a second tank you can throw the dominant guy in there for a few days, rearrange the tank, then put him back.

Thanks for the sound advice all. @fhawk362.....I'm going to give your method a go see how that works.

I have to ask for more advice guys....I've been using emperor 400's or whatever (back hanging filters) they seem to be made pretty terribly as they are consistent with breaking down on the regular.
My question is what is the most efficient type of filtration....if you guys have any hands on knowledge or know of any links you could post back that would be awesome (it would be nice if they were cost efficient too but if not it's no big deal, their worth it to me).

it depends if you want to a sump style or not. i personaly have yet to use a sump so i would say the easiest away to go would be a canister and if you can afford, a fluval fx5 and even keep the HOB ( hang on backs) filters as long as they work.

Nice thanks man...I may go with canister I've been researching it a little bit..they look like they keep the tanks in tip-top condition.

Why spend more money on filters to support your overstocked tank when they will kill eachother anyway?
