Help Please: Jaguar picking on FH

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've come to terms with the fact that I'm going to have to give one of them up and I'm just stubborn b/c I raised them both from wee little things to moderately large fish..
I'm a ways a way from getting a new filter setup I'm just thinking long term and looking for the best advice so I don't make an ill advised purchase. Thanks for your concern tho, Greg.

Secondly my hands are currently full with finding a new and suitable home for the speckled mid-ranged giant.....so that will take some time.

well if you continue keeping fish youll need better filtration so the money wont be a waste. and if you really dont want to get rid of your fish look into a diy divider to separet them for now and look for a used tank. all my tanks are used and they are great. a general rule of thumb for used tanks is $1/gallon. so i you get a 75 gallon for under $125 then you can buy not so expenisve canister filters for each tank and keep them light to moderate stocked. maybe even throw some HOB on the back of the tanks, thats what i would do at least.

^^^ agreed. You can look into the diy filters depending on what you're looking for, Overhead filters are the simplest however most people like that they can hide sumps under their tank (so they seem to be the most popular). Canisters are nice as well, you can get a decent canister on ebay for a good price, I've heard good things about sunsun filters. Some of them even come with uv lights at a good price.

Why spend more money on filters to support your overstocked tank when they will kill eachother anyway?
