I lost my previous 55 to an issue like this I believe. My whole house has been shrinking up bad the doors wont close and worst of all my tank is no longer level. Its a 55 gallon on a good stand (Pics enclosed) . Its about a 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch tilted. Im positive it was level when I set it in this spot. Its 5 inches off of an interior wall. Any Ideas ?
PS I checked 3 times a day and the floor issues are not due to a leak or moisture under the house (Bad wood) or from the tank its just shifted. My garage floor is cement and has separated an inch almost.
It's on carpet so I was thinking about sliding a piece of sheet metal under the stand so i can slap some shims under it without the shims catching the carpet.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

There is some serious errosion happening under your house then. You might seriously want to consider putting a drain tile field around the perimeter of the basement that leads into a sump.

Doing the same around the outside of the house would be good too and put some grading in while you're at it.

Otherwise, the house probably is unsellable the way it is.

you say doors wont close, large gaps in a concrete floor???

dude, if this is a new house, you need to contact your contractor. no house should settle in THAT bad. if its an old house, it may be time you started thinking about moving all joking aside. as was said, you may have a major errosion issue, or some contruction about to go bad.

im a floor mechanic, and ive done alot of other contracting work in my time. and i honestly got to tell you, what you just typed is something to worry about well beyond your fish tanks. door frames wacked out and cement floors cracking could be some seriouse structual issues.

I see you live in California. Any recent earthquakes near your house?

All good input. I went in with my rents to get this house about 4 years ago. Its 19 years old. Ive owned it for 3 years. There was no disclosure on the sale about this happening. I do heating ventilation air conditioning and custom sheet metal/ copper work for a living. I can do alot of the things mentioned. I already ran all the downspouts from their new copper gutter into underground pipes that drain out to the street and im working on doing some more drainage work. I DIY all my house work with my brother and were always busy. I was advised when I inquired 2 years ago about the disclosures by my real estate attorney that going after the realtor wouldnt help. So im kinda stuck with it sadly. But it is a nice house inside.

Under neath the house is dry :)

to your original question, i would definatly add something like thin sheet metal under there, this way you could partially drain and shim the tank as needed when something else sinks in more.

got to do something to ensure 55g of water all over your floor isnt the next problem you have :)
